Barbara Eva Ardenois is a Belgian folk musician (free bass accordion) and composer of Dreamy Folk Flow. She is known for her melancholic melodies and dreamy performances that touches the soul and create atmospheric landscapes.
In Triveni, Barbara’s soloproject, she weaves together elements of Swedish herding music, Karelian kantele tradition and contemporary classical music, with subtle use of field recordings and electronics. The enchanting, resonating sound of the kantele (Finnish string instrument), as well as the power of nature and the vast landscapes of the North, opened a door to her own world full of dreams and wonder. Her music, which she calls ‘Dreamy Folk Flow’, is composed for the quiet hours, when daylight grows or fades, summoning the listener to slow down, connect and wonder. With her reflective sceneries, she hopes to bring a counterbalance to the fast pace of today’s society and awake both presence and serenity in the listeners.
She performs as a solo artist but also collaborates with various Nordic artists to expend her sonic expressions. In Triveni Trio, Ingrid Rodebjer (SE) – violin/vocals and Hanna Ryynänen (FIN) – Saarijärvi kantele enrich Triveni’s dream world with their Northern traditions. Kaiun Kajo is a trio creating improvised music from a connection with sound in the present moment, with Eva Väljaots on kannel (EST) and Sakari Heikka (FIN) on shakuhachi.
She obtains a master in classical music with Philippe Thuriot (School of Arts 2013) and Claudio Jacomucci (Conservatorio Luisa d’Annuzio 2014) and continued her journey with the Nordic Master in Folk Music (2023): a joint program between 4 Nordic countries: The Royal College of Music (Sweden), The Danish National Academy of Music (Denmark), Ole Bull Academy (Norway) and The Sibelius Academy (Finland).

Barbara Eva Ardenois is een Belgische muzikante en componiste van Dreamy Folk Flow.
In het najaar van 2021 trok Barbara voor twéé jaar naar het Noorden. Daar leerde ze haar lyrische speelstijl met free bass accordeon verweven met invloeden uit orale tradities zoals Karelische kantele improvisaties, Zweedse herdersmuziek en minimalistische wereldmuziek met subtiel gebruik van field recordings en electronics. De bedwelmende, resonerende klank van de kantele (Fins snaarinstrument) alsook de kracht van de natuur en de weidse landschappen van het Noorden openden een deur naar haar eigen droomwereld op accordeon. Zo ontstond haar soloproject Triveni. Naast accordeon gebruikt ze ook andere instrumenten in Triveni: herdersfluit, kantele en sporadisch een lijntje zang.
‘Dreamy Folk Flow’ zijn composities voor de stille uren, wanneer het daglicht toeneemt of afneemt. Met haar reflectieve landschappen hoopt ze een tegengewicht te brengen aan het snelle tempo van de hedendaagse samenleving. De luisteraar wordt uitnodigd tot contemplatie en vertraging.
Barbara werkt ook samen met verschillende Noordse artiesten om haar muzikale expressie uit te breiden. In Triveni trio kleurt Ingrid Rodebjer (SE) – viool /zang en Hanna Ryynänen (FIN) – kantele Triveni’s droomwereld verder in met hun Noordelijke tradities. Barbara studeerde een Master in klassiek accordeon bij Philippe Thuriot (School of Arts Gent 2013) en Claudio Jacomucci (Conservatorio Luisa d’Annuzio (ITA) 2014) en vervolgde haar reis met de Nordic Master in Folk Music (2023), een gezamenlijk programma tussen vier Noordse landen: The Royal College of Music (Zweden), The Danish National Academy of Music (Denemarken), Ole Bull Academy (Noorwegen) en The Sibelius Academy (Finland).
